Achievements of AMPC
- AMPC took efforts and succeeded in getting dismissal of Government Order to control 50% of the admissions in self financing colleges.
- AMPC also fought for the dismissal of SLP(Special Leave Petition) filed by the Government in this matter.
- The Association sent a detailed letter of objection to Secretary, DHE, DCE, Honorable Chief Minister and Honorable Education Minister for a viable fee structure and the Association represented to the Government to have a prior detailed consultation before introducing any fee structure- For the sole benefit of SF and Aided colleges running SF courses.
- Efforts were taken to ensure viability of SF courses- enhance the intake for all new UG & PG courses and it resulted successful.
- Obtained a favourable judgement against a directive in 1983 to surrender to the University 25% of the seats under each PG course at every college for direct admission of students by the University.
- Referred to the G.O. Ms. 258 dated 23.07.2007 issued by the Higher Education Department and stated that the efforts taken by the Association met with the favourable outcome with the Government accepting the demanded ratio 90% as Management quota for the Minority Colleges and 50% as Management quota for Non Minority Colleges.
- Guided the member colleges that they could release press advertisements and consider the candidates along with the candidates sent by the Employment agency and after making the appointments, the colleges could get approval from the Director of Collegiate Education through the Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education for appointment of approved teaching posts.
- Represented various issues affecting SF Colleges at the Government level for remedial measures.
- AMPC has forwarded draft amendment proposals to the Tamil Nadu Private Colleges(Regulations) Act and Rules 1976, safeguarding the interest of the Managements.
- In the civil appeal (No.9277/2010) filed by the AMPC before the Honorable Supreme Court of India, Challenging the address delivered by the Honorable Madras High Court upholding the Tamil Nadu Amendment Act 13 of 2003 enhancing the tax in respect of Motor Vehicles owned by Private Educational Institutions from Rs.2000 per annum to Rs.150 per seat per quarter, the Honorable Supreme Court has requested the Additional Advocate General to look into the matter and advice the Government of Tamil Nadu to exempt the Educational Institutions from payment of tax from Higher rate from 2003 to 2006 as a one time measure.
- Association has filed a Writ Petition before the Hon’ble High Court, Madras challenging that the Executive order issued by the Government constituting the fee committee for regulating the fee structure of self financing courses. After hearing the matter the Hon’ble court has directed the Higher Education Department and the UGC to file reply and has posted the case for further hearing on 31.01.19. © AMPC.
